Owners of motorhomes, caravans, campers, boats and yachts desire a good internet connection like at home to retrieve emails, stream news or continue watching their Netflix series while on vacation. They also don’t want to go without the electronic newspaper on their tablet or planning the next stage of their journey with Maps. With the SELFSAT MWR 5550, SELFSAT offers the suitable complete solution with a maximum connection speed of up to 3.3 Gbps for a stable and good WLAN supply while traveling or at the campsite or RV site, as well as off-the-grid when combined with Starlink.

The core is an internet router that can be operated via the 12 Volt (or 24 Volt) on-board power supply and can receive an incoming WLAN signal from outside, or a mobile network signal thanks to an inserted SIM card, and transmit it inside the motorhome or caravan as a private, password-protected WLAN signal. This gives you a significantly better signal inside than you would have directly with your smartphone, tablet, laptop or TV.

In addition, you can connect several devices to the internet router simultaneously. It has no SIM lock and can be used with prepaid SIM cards or contract SIM cards (postpaid) from various providers. Since it has 2 SIM card slots, foreign SIM cards can also be used additionally, e.g. abroad. An external antenna, which is mounted on the camper or caravan and connected to the internet router inside, ensures good reception. The antenna receives the WLAN signal from the campsite or RV site, as well as the 4G LTE or 5G mobile network signal.

Connecting to the WLAN of your internet router is as easy as in a hotel or at home. Furthermore, a VPN can be set up on the router, which can be important, for example, when streaming abroad.

Starlink compatible – out of the box!

If you want to use the router together with Starlink, this is also already supported by the SELFSAT MWR 5550. It has been tested with all our Starlink 12/24V conversion adapters and works great out-of-the-box without any configuration required. Tested Starlinks include the 2nd and 3rd Generation Starlink and the Flat High-Performance Starlink.
